The Element Jewellery Bridal Tiara Collection
The bridal tiara / wedding tiara is the hallmark of grace and distinction, worn for centuries by nobility and high society, and the tiara is now favoured by movie stars and modern brides. Some of the most beautiful bridal tiaras were created by the goldsmiths of classical Greece to adorn the statues of divinities and the heads of priests and sacrificial victims as they processed to the altars of the sanctuaries.
Through the centuries, the weeding / bridal tiara has always held its place high in society. For instance throughout the late 1900’s the tiara was always given the highest stand at jewellery exhibitions, where you would see bridal tiaras bejewelled with huge gemstones, diamonds, heraldic motifs, flowers, feathers and pearls.
Whereas in the past the wedding tiara – particularly the great hereditary “fender” – was an assertion of rank and wealth, now, except for special royal tiara commissions, it is the decorative value within the bridal tiara that counts the most. The most recent talent to have met the challenge of the tiara is Joel Rosenthal (JAR of Paris) widely recognised as the most creative of the new generation of wedding / bridal tiara jewellers who have emerged in the final decades of the 20th century.
To give you a taste of the wonderful tiaras that have been created over the centuries, I’ll list a few: The Empress Eugenie’s Tiara made in 1853 from gold silver pearls and diamonds; The Londonderry Tiara made in 1854 with gold, silver and diamonds totalling 482.5 carats, The Triple-Sun Tiara made in 1910 from platinum, hundreds of round brilliant cut diamonds and grey Tahitian pearls; The Divergent Scroll Tiara made in the 1930s by Bulgari from the purest and most precious materials in the world, platinum and diamonds; and the Whitney Tiara made in 1957 by Fulco do Verdura from gold and diamonds.
Element Jewellery say you should let yourself dream and drift into a place where you are a princess. Our exquisite wedding / bridal tiara collection is intricate, and the tiaras have a fairy tale quality. Their delicate appearances disguise the careful construction of these amazing crown tiara sculptures. The wedding tiaras are entirely hand made by Liz Wood and Tanya Igic. They each use fine materials in the making of their tiaras including gold and silver wire and leather that has undergone a number of processes. Liz Wood traps semi-precious stones and exotic rich coloured feathers in her stunning bridal tiara collection, and Tanja Igic produces simply outrageous tiaras.
